Dear students and families,
It was a strong week of learning and also one of fun at GFSS. On Thursday, GFSS welcomed students from Rossland, Nelson, Castlegar, and Trail for the Junior Boys West Kootenay Volleyball Championships. Hundreds of student-fans (from GFSS and Dr. D A Perley Elementary) cheered on our Wolves to volleyball victories. Additionally in athletics, please join me in congratulating the GFSS Swim team for their outstanding showing at the Provincial Championships in Richmond. Podium placements and provincial records! You must come and see their trophy in the office. Thank you, to our Athletic Director, Riley Friesen and all our coaches for leading our students through a great swimming and volleyball season.
I’ve two other things to mention to you. The first, is that after consultation with students, and parents, and staff, we have updated our awards criteria. I invite you to review the plan for celebrating strong achievement at GFSS.
The second is to let you all know that the GFSS Global Citizenship Club is launching their campaign for the Boundary Food Bank. Starting on Nov 26th, A-blocks classes will begin to welcome donations of non-perishables and cash for the next three weeks. To create buzz, we are coupling the campaign with school team points. Students will earn team points and increase their chances of securing the prized (and yummy) pre-Christmas treat for their A-block class. Find out the items in the most need.
