Dear students and families,
What’s important for you in your child’s education? We are living in an age of disruption. As a public school, we are curious to know what parents/guardians and other caregivers think about what GFSS can do to ensure we are preparing young people to thrive in a future of extraordinary change. On Wednesday, I emailed all families an invitation to engage with GFSS in two ways. In case you missed that email, here are the details again:
- Click here and complete our 10-minute survey: “Beliefs about education.” AND
- Join us at GFSS for relaxed, informal conversations — an event called, “World Café” on Monday, April 28th at 5:00pm (bistro). We want to hear your beliefs and thoughts on these questions (above). Let’s learn what we all want for, and from GFSS. We will provide refreshments and ask that you click here to register in advance so we can plan appropriately.
In alignment with our school’s mission to support our students towards a confident future, a new partnership between The City of Grand Forks and School District 51 has seen the creation of the position of Youth Council Representative to City Council. Committed students who reside in the Grand Forks area and are currently in grades 9, 10, or 11 are welcome to apply. Click to view the application and learn more about the role, responsibilities, and requirements of the position. Applications are to be submitted to the GFSS school office before May 9th.
Preparing students for their life after graduation is one of our prime purposes. This week our Skilled Trades class (with Mr. Thielmann) is traveling to Selkirk College (Castlegar) for a day of immersive learning. As always at GFSS, we continue our focus on high quality teaching and learning. We also make time for some zany fun at lunch with our Lip Sync auditions on Monday and our Mountain Bike Club’s first trek of the season. Also, check out some of the photos of fun on our socials (links below). GFSS is a fun place to be!
