Dear students and families,
I want to acknowledge the tragic and deeply upsetting events in Tumbler Ridge. GFSS families have already received a detailed message from District 51’s Superintendent (Anna Lautard) outlining ways to support children during this time, including being attentive to their emotions, limiting exposure to distressing media, and maintaining routines. Please know that GFSS staff are ready to support students who may be affected or who have questions or concerns. If you feel your child may need additional support, we encourage you to reach out to the school.
As we continue to support one another as a school community, I also want to share that there is another weekend of basketball at GFSS. Our Senior Girls are hosting the 1A Senior Girls Kootenay Championships, and we invite families and students to fill the Wolf Den this Friday and Saturday and cheer on our team. GFSS plays in the semis at 5:30pm (Friday) and then hopefully at 1:00pm (Saturday) in the finals!
Lastly, I wanted to let you know there are some changes being piloted with the hot lunch program. 1. Price drop – regular size meals will now be $7 and larges will be $10. 2. Pay-what-you-can – families can now pay what they can afford within the ordering system without having to get a form at the office. You still need paper forms for cash payments.
