Awards

At GFSS we welcome the opportunity to celebrate student success because it motivates further success. We value student achievement in all areas of learning and aim to recognize excellence throughout a student’s years at GFSS.

Awards, Grade 10-12

Governor General Academic Medal (Bronze): This award is to encourage academic excellence. Recognizing scholastic achievement, it is awarded annually to one student in Grade 12 with the highest average percentage in grade 11 & 12. The five academic areas of learning: Sciences, Mathematics, English Language Arts, Languages, Social Studies.

Honour Roll Certificate: This award recognizes consistent, strong achievement in a student’s course of study.  The certificate is awarded once a year for students in grades 10, 11, and 12. Eligibility is determined at the end of June and awarded the following September.  Student’s average percentage must be greater than 80%. Students with an average greater than 90% will have “With Distinction” noted on their certificate.

First Class Honours Certificate (3-year pen): Awarded to grade 12 students who have received the Honour Roll Certificate three times—in each of grade 10, 11, and 12.

Awards Grade 8-12: Subject Areas and Scholarships

GFSS prepares a number of special events to celebrate the development of students in a variety of areas of school life.

In June, we host a both a scholarship awards evening and Lupine awards assembly for recognizing holistic student achievements. We also invite you to our public Celebration of Learning Galas in December and May to appreciate the effort of our students and encourage them to continuously strive for excellence.
