Dear students and families,

This last week was a memorable one. GFSS held a heartfelt luncheon for graduating Indigenous students. The next day, the entire student body celebrated individual student achievements in academics, athletics, leadership, and community spirit at our annual Lupines awards assembly. and performances of “The Little Shop of Horrors” have begun to great acclaim–the show continues today and tomorrow.

Today (June 7), Our SAGA club participates in the Boundary Pride event at Gyro Park. Also, this week we anticipate even more awesome events: the grade 12 Awards and Scholarship event (by invitation only); coming together as school for “Over the Top”; and culminating with the grade 12 Graduation Ceremony on Saturday.

On another note, this spring, I sought to learn more about our families’ “Beliefs about Education” in the form of a survey. I’m pleased to share the report for you to review. It’s a conversation starter and I believe it will help inform our schools future direction.

Lastly, I’d like to send a special thank you to our Parents’ Advisory Council. Our PAC has donated more than $6,000 to sports teams, school spirit events, and extra-curricular activities and clubs this year. This June we say goodbye to outgoing president, Katrina Koyich, and secretary, Chantel Evers. All of us at GFSS are grateful for your service. This coming year we are excited to welcome back Laura Lewis as Treasurer, and welcome new president, Roly Russell, new vice-president, Kent Thiessen, and new Secretary, Kim Vanderkooy.

Great things are happening here!

Limləmt (thank you in Nsyilxcən)
