Dear students and families,

As we move through the school year, one of the simplest yet most powerful habits for student success is regular attendance. Being present every day helps students stay engaged, keep up with learning, and build strong connections with teachers and peers. If your child is ever too unwell to attend, please remember to call the 24hr Attendance Line: (250) 442-0954 to report their absence. This helps us keep everyone safe and supported.

On another note, our basketball teams are now in full gear and hitting the courts with energy and enthusiasm. This week and weekend, teams are traveling to Nelson and Kelowna. We’re proud to see so many students demonstrating teamwork, dedication, and school spirit both on and off the court.

Last week, the Global Citizenship Club led GFSS in Write for Rights Day, an international campaign where students write letters to advocate for people whose human rights are under threat. Students selected real-world issues, crafted thoughtful letters, and raised awareness within our school community. This initiative is a great example of how students live our values putting compassion and integrity into action, making a meaningful difference both locally and globally.

There are great things happening at GFSS. Let’s continue to support each other, stay engaged, and make the most of every opportunity to learn and grow.
