Dear students and families,
We’re off to a strong and spirited start this winter. Last week’s Battle of the Boundary was a huge success, bringing our community together to launch the new basketball season. The gym was alive with noise and pride as our teams showed skill, grit, and great sportsmanship. Their early-season effort has been impressive, and we’re excited to see how each group grows in the months ahead. A big thank-you goes to our amazing coaching team: Riley, Jason, Bodhi, Megan, Jordyn, Scott, Brandon, and Lindsay for the leadership and encouragement they bring to our athletes every day.
Our Fine Arts, Woodwork, Metal, Music and Foods students are ready to showcase their creativity at this week’s Celebration of Learning: Practical Arts Gala. Families are invited to join us in, explore student projects, and celebrate the hands-on learning that makes GFSS such a vibrant place. Drama students have been working hard, and they’re ready for the stage. Performances run this week, and we’d love to see the community come out to support their talent, humour, and storytelling. As we head into the final days before winter break, the GFSS Student Council is gearing up to deliver a full lineup of festive fun. Students can look forward to theme days, music in the halls, lunchtime activities, and a few surprises that always bring lots of laughter and school spirit. It’s a great way to end the year on a positive note and enjoy time together.
Thank you to all students, families, and staff for helping make GFSS a place full of energy, connection, and creativity. I look forward to seeing you at our events and cheering on our athletes as the season continues!
